Heh-it’s working! April 8, 2018

Teaching others the healing benefits and relaxation techniques of qi gong has been very gratifying.

One student, who’s been very stressed out, said after her first time practicing qi gong, she slept well for the first time in months and the calmness was still with her the next day. She wants to make qi gong a daily practice.

I’m so happy for her and all the others, benefiting by calming, relaxing and finding their centres.

Qi gong class # 2 in our building. Feb. 2018

Saturday I ran into my neighbours in the hall.

They talked about how stressed and worried they’ve been, suffering from bad sleep, physical discomfort and pain.

So I offered to guide them through qigong yesterday afternoon for an hour in our common room. Others joined too.

While practicing Ocean Breathing towards the end,  one participant fell asleep!
So, it seems she was able to let go and relax! (good thing she was sitting down while practicing!)

Wasn’t sure how everyone was feeling afterwards, as we all dispersed quickly. But later they said they’d found it very relaxing and beneficial.

I’m convinced, relaxing our bodies and releasing areas of tension, has a profound healing effect, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Beginning to teach qi gong, Feb. 2018

So many amazing things have been happening lately. Seem to have all started right after my time spent in Quesnel in Dec. 2017.  While in Quesnel, I’d spent time with a friend in emotional distress. We spent hours together as I gently guided her towards centre with intentional breath and simple movement.

Afterwards she and I recognized the transformational power of this work.  And, at the same time, I was transformed by realizing newly discovered capacities within myself.

So,  upon returning home,  I felt a strong calling to volunteer and to use my recently discovered ability to help others heal, through movement, breathwork and intention– qi gong.

It was only a few days later I noticed the posting seeking a volunteer to teach meditation for the West End Senior’s Network at Barclay Manor. That possibility felt right on.

Qi gong IS meditation in motion– so perfect! Not only the perfect alignment with what I wanted to do and contribute but also the perfect location, in a lovely heritage home just 3 blocks from home.

I simply chose my preferred day, time and start date and was ready to go.

Initially, a little bit scary, as it was a very big step for me to take, putting my new found self, out into the world.

But it all fell into place so effortlessly– obviously  just meant to be!

Where to start?

So, I’m a complete blog newbie! I’m literally figuring this out, slowly and tediously, step by step, at this very moment!  I’ve been thinking about doing a blog for a few months. But the big question and stumbling block was, “where to start?” Initially, thought this could be a chronological rambling– in other words, beginning with earliest memories and so on, and so on, and so on… But that sounded tedious, even to me!

So I’m going to begin in the present.  I know past stuff’ll want to surface and I’ll let it.  It’ll be a zig zaggy path then, chronologically speaking, and hopefully the pieces will somehow tie together. We’ll see.

What I’m itching to talk about, specifically, is my spiritual path/journey. That sounds heady, (if not heavy!), but it’s really just another way of saying, “Who am I?”  “How’d I get here?” and “What’ve I learned along the way?”.

I’d like to mention some of the deeply  transformative experiences I’ve had and offer some observations and insights I’ve gained along the way.

On second thought, that does sound quite heady/heavy! But don’t worry, there will no doubt be some trivial, irreverent or irrelevent things thrown in too.

Now, approaching  66, and looking back, it’s quite a long way… though it feels like just a flash in the pan!
